The Doodle Man

The Doodle Man, otherwise known as Sam Cox is an artist from Ashford in Kent.

His work which to the uninitiated may seem like black and white squiggles are driven by his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Sam is an illustration graduate, and his doodles consume many different surfaces, including walls, floor and furniture, spreading beyond the sketchbook and infusing spaces with his bustling drawings.

Earlier this year, in February, he spent the most part of five days scribbling across the walls of a makeshift underpass on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch. (as seen on the right)

Growing up, he was influenced by graffiti, hip hop, myan art and hieroglyphics.

Also, busy scenes such as the 'Where's Wally' books by Martin Handford as well as artists such as Hieronymus Bosch influenced him.

Everyday things inspire his work like seeing all the products mashed up next to each other in the supermarkets, it visually excites him.

He also listens to video game soundtracks while working as they help inform his character expressions.

His passion for creating artwork has lead him to experimenting with various formats of art including animation, video work and performance art. He has several videos on youtube as well.

Doodle Man is currently on a mission to draw one million doodles on his iPhone.
