Hello,

My name is Alfea Shaikh and this is my project called StreetSmArt. Emphasis on the Art. 

This project aims at widening your knowledge of the Street Art (Graffiti) scene a little beyond the likes of Banksy. Which is why you will notice that I have no work by Banksy here.

StreetSmArt is a project that involves me mapping Shoreditch based on the Street Art, meeting cool artists, taking graffiti tours and finding out more about the codes and techniques involved in graffiti writing. It is actually much deeper than you think.

Like did you know, if an artist has taken up a wall, you can't draw over his work unless you paint over the entire wall, in an attempt to create a fresh canvas. If you simply draw over someone's work it is considered to be disrespectful.

On my journey to being StreetSmArt, I learnt a few skills myself, like making stencils and doing "tags". Tags are basically how an artist signs their name at the end of a piece. Sadly my work isn't good enough to exhibit.

I have devoted a lot of time and energy into this project, and I hope that you enjoy looking at it as I did making it.
